Zij onderzocht\u00a0de\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.leicestermercury.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leicester Mercury<\/a><\/em>\u00a0en de Bournemouth\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailyecho.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily Echo\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>in\u00a02010 en 2011.\u00a0Zij hield interviews met 38 journalisten van de twee regionale dagbladen en voerde inhoudsanalyses uit op Facebook en Twitter accounts van de nieuwsmedia en de journalisten.<\/p>\n<p>Uit de interviews\u00a0blijkt dat <span class=\"pullquote\">Twitter\u00a0wordt gezien als de meeste interactieve tool<\/span> van de twee onderzochte social media. Facebook is<span style=\"color: #ff0000\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333\">voor persoonlijk gebruik. Journalisten gebruiken Facebook wel om verhalen op het spoor te komen. Daarnaast wordt Facebook\u00a0vooral in\u00a0\u00e9\u00e9n\u00a0richting gebruikt, om te zenden.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Uit de inhoudsanalyses van Canter wordt duidelijk dat individuele journalisten op social media op een informele, persoonlijke\u00a0manier met de lezers communiceren. Dit in tegenstelling tot de nieuwsmedia waarvoor deze journalisten werken die traditioneel en top-down zenden.\u00a0Er is dus een duidelijk onderscheid\u00a0tussen\u00a0de aanpak van de organisatie en\u00a0die van de individuele journalist.
