In Nederland alleen al waren er in 2011 863.786 mensen met een abonnement op \u00e9\u00e9n van zijn kranten. En ze betaalden vooraf! Zonder advertentie-inkomsten was dat al \u20ac215 miljoen.<\/p>\n<p>In de <a href=\"http:\/\/production.investis.com\/mecom\/rns\/rnsitem?id=19828541\">Strategic Review<\/a> van 24 januari spelen die abonnees dan ook de hoofdrol, samen met de kostenbesparingen. Eigenlijk gaat het in de Strategic Review maar over \u00e9\u00e9n ding niet \u2013 het N-woord \u2013 maar daarover later meer.<\/p>\n<p>Waarover gaat het wel?<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Betaalmodellen voor alle platformen.<\/li>\n<li>\u20ac70 miljoen bezuiniging (minder mensen, integratie en outsourcing).<\/li>\n<li>Investering in nieuwe producten en product-extensies voor abonnees.<\/li>\n<li>Verkoop aan abonnees (o.a. via Sweetdeal).<\/li>\n<li>Afstoten \u201clower margin businesses\u201d en huis-aan-huisbladen.<\/li>\n<li>Versterken advertentieverkoop.<\/li>\n<li>Exploitatie van \u201chigh quality subscriber data\u201d (abonnee-gegevens).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Punten 2 en 5 zijn bezuinigingen, punt 6 betekent dat er meer uit adverteerders moet komen. De andere punten gaan over de abonnees: die moeten gaan betalen op alle platformen, ze moeten nieuwe producten en product-extensies kopen en hun \u201csubscriber data\u201d zal ge\u00ebxploiteerd worden. Het is de A-strategie, het uitmelken van Abonnees en Adverteerders.<\/p>\n<p>Waar gaat het NIET over? Het gaat Niet over Nieuws. Wegener en MGL zijn A-merken als het gaat om regionaal en lokaal nieuws. Het zijn (bijna)-monopolisten. De dagbladen en veel huis-aan-huisbladen hebben een bijna onaantastbare positie. Hoe gaan ze dat versterken? Exploiteren? Uitbreiden? Digitaliseren? Marketen? Verhyperlocalen? Hoe wil men nieuwe gebruikers binnenhalen? Niets daarover in de strategie.<\/p>\n<p>Papa is niet boos, hij is teleurgesteld.
