Sebastiaan van der Lubben (1973) is PhD candidate at the Leiden University Centre of Linguistics (Leiden University) and the research group Quality Journalism in Digital Transition, University of Applied Sciences, Utrecht. His research focuses on breaking news & immediacy, genre theory, journalistic credibility and liveblogs.

Recent studies relate to content in liveblogs covering breaking news, politics and sports, and discourse communities of liveblogs.

Sebastiaan teaches political science and social problem theory for journalists at the University of Applied Sciences, Utrecht and is a freelance journalist writing for (local) newspapers and corporate media. He studied journalism (Zwolle) and political science (Leiden).
